About

Meet Mackenzie

Hello! I’m Mackenzie Lewis, LRIC, NCC, and I come from a small town in the beautiful landscape of East Tennessee. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of the Cumberlands in 2022, driven by a profound passion for understanding the intricacies of the human mind and advocating for mental health. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2025 from the same university. To further my education and confidence as a women’s mental health clinician, I am currently enrolled in a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program at, you guessed it, my Alma Mater, with hopes of inspiring future generations of clinicians. On the side, I teach undergraduate psychology courses, where I also advocate and share my passion for women’s mental health, and have connected with many brilliant students who share similar interests and dreams.

I am currently a Licensed Resident in Counseling (#0704017977) under supervision by Dr. Colette Brooks (#0701009412) as I work toward completing the state licensure requirements to become an LPC (please refer to the Consents page).

Nature is my sanctuary, and I love exploring the great outdoors with my dogs by my side. Whether we’re hiking through trails or enjoying a quiet moment in the sunshine, they remind me of the simple joys in life. I’ve spent quite some time exploring the majority of the southeast, but my travels to the Midwest have my heart, though my pups sadly weren’t by my side during those adventures. In my other free time, you’ll often find me immersed in crafts or lost in the pages of a book. I enjoy reading about women’s studies and history, which helps me connect more with my work and passions, but I dabble in fiction a bit. Creativity fuels my spirit, allowing me to express myself and find inspiration in everyday moments.

I am deeply committed to advocating for women’s rights and health. I believe in empowering women to embrace their strength, prioritize their well-being, and advocate for themselves in all aspects of life. Every step toward equity and access to healthcare is a step toward a brighter future for us all.

I am a part of the Postpartum Support directory throughout Virginia and the Pro Choice national directory as part of my passion and dedication to accessible care for women. Additionally, I have various certifications in women’s health, clinical nutrition, navigating patriarchal and internalized misogynistic societies, therapeutic yoga for trauma recovery, and postpartum-related disorders. Furthermore, I serve as a member of several organizations focused on women’s empowerment and mental health, including the Association for Women in Psychology (AWP), the National Organization for Women (NOW), the SeekHer Foundation, and the International Association for Women’s Mental Health (IAWMH).

I’m excited to continue this journey of personal growth and advocacy, and I can’t wait to make a positive impact in my community and beyond!
